In September 2022 Xplornet became Xplore. Read more here.

At Xplore, we believe that actions speak louder than words. That's why when our marketing team set out to create a video that truly captures the essence of who we are, we aimed to showcase that Xplore is not just a faceless corporation, but a remarkable group of hardworking individuals- who strive every day to enhance the broadband experience in rural communities across Canada.

A Personal Connection to Rural Internet

Finding the talent for our video shoot turned out to be easier than we expected. Autumn, one of our passionate team members who grew up in rural Ontario shared that her parents use Xplore Internet at their home in Brant County. This personal connection allowed us to tap into the heart of rural life and speak from a place of genuine understanding.

Behind the Scenes: Capturing the Essence of Connectivity

With several Xplore towers nearby connecting the community to high-speed Internet with truly unlimited data, we knew we had the perfect backdrop for our video. We decided to capture the beauty of these towers from above, utilizing a drone to showcase the transformative power of connectivity that Xplore brings to these communities.

Meet Adam: The Face of Xplore's Local Support

And when it came to finding a personality for the ad, we didn’t look further than Adam, a real-life Xplore technician providing the friendly and local support our customers rave about.

“I was surprised, honoured and a little reluctant when I was initially asked about taking part in the video. I was not sure how I would do on camera, being a little shy and reserved, but I do tend to jump into trying new experiences, so I agreed. Seeing familiar faces helped ease the nerves though and the whole team was very easy to work with. It ended up being a great experience,” Adam said.

A Family Affair: The Importance of Community

You might be surprised to learn that the man shaking Adam’s hand in the video is none other than Autumn's dad, Jamie! This small, heartwarming moment perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Xplore - a family-oriented company that truly understands the importance of bringing reliable Internet service to rural Canadians. It's not just about business for us; it's personal.

Jamie said that he had a great experience with the Xplore technician who recently visited to upgrade his service.

“Matt was a wonderful guy. He’s very friendly. He was very helpful and did a good job. Since he came, the Internet has been working great,” he said.

Upgrading to Better: Adam's Favorite Job Aspect

Upgrading customers is one of Adam’s favourite parts of his job.

“I have many great stories of customers being happy to get our services for the first time, but what I enjoy more than anything is when I am able to upgrade customers to newer or faster platforms, customers tend to get pretty excited about that,” he said.

This is happening more and more with Xplore’s Wireless Home Internet with speeds up to 100 Mbps expanding to more areas every day. Xplore has also invested $1 billion to bring fibre to more communities and our Next-Generation Satellite service is now bringing speeds up to 100 Mbps to Canadians in rural communities.

Paris, Ontario: A Testament to Local Presence

For the final location of our shoot, we didn't have to search far. Just a short drive west from Jamie’s home in Brant County lies "the Prettiest Little Town in Canada:" Paris, Ontario. This charming town served as the backdrop for our technician as he is seen leaving a local shop, cup of coffee in hand. By featuring a beloved local establishment, we wanted to emphasize that when we say, "we live here too," we mean it.

The Final Product: A Celebration of Rural Life and Connectivity

The video we created is more than just an ad; it's a celebration of rural life and the potential for growth that technology and connectivity can unlock. We wanted to showcase the heart and soul of Xplore, and that meant featuring real people from the communities we serve. Our video shoot was a testament to our commitment to community development and our dedication to seeing rural towns thrive in the digital age.

The Essential Role of Internet in Rural Life

“It truly has become an essential service. At no time was this more relevant than in 2020 with all the schools going remote learning and everyone trying to work from home. In many rural areas there is little to no cell phone coverage, and often the phone lines are unreliable, if even available, making Internet coverage even more important,” Adam said.

In Jamie’s words, “Let's face it, without the Internet at this point in life you can’t even function. I need it for everything, banking, entertainment, sports, general knowledge, to remember things. My wife works from home and relies on the Internet for her career and my son is becoming a pilot and he uses it to study for his flight courses.”

Looking Forward: Xplore's Vision for Rural Canada

As we continue to expand our reach and connect more rural areas, we are excited to share this video with you. It's a glimpse into the world of Xplore, a story that speaks to the impact of technology on everyday lives and our commitment to bringing better, faster Internet to Canadians in rural areas. We invite you to watch and join us on this journey towards a brighter future for rural communities.
