At Xplore, connection means more than just fast Internet—it means community. In our Cornwall, Ontario office, that connection runs deep. It runs through families, friendships, and shared values that reflect the heart of small-town Canada, and Xplore’s mission. As Canada’s leading rural Internet provider, Xplore delivers reliable broadband access including high-speed Internet to rural communities, ensuring that every home—no matter how remote—can stay connected to what matters most.

In this blog, you’ll meet three family pairs who prove that working together at Xplore isn’t just possible—it’s powerful. From shared lunches to social committee pranks, these stories show how family values and rural community spirit are alive and well in our workplace.

Joseph & Sarah Beauchamp: A Father-Daughter Duo Rooted in Purpose

Xplore Staff Members and father daughter pair, Joseph and Sarah wearing matching blue super hero t-shirts.

Joseph Beauchamp, Customer Care Systems Specialist, joined Xplore in March 2020 after leaving a government job where he felt like “just a number.” At Xplore, he found a grassroots company with a mission he could get behind. “It’s a Canadian company, started on its own, small grassroots, they are trying to give Internet to people who live in the country.”

His daughter, Sarah Beauchamp, Customer Service Representative, joined in November 2023 after seeing her dad work from home. “For me it feels great to have my dad,” she says. “It’s a familiar face to see… I’m a big family person, I enjoy spending time with my family, and I think it was a great idea.”

They even take walks together on office days and team up for social committee shenanigans—like hiding hundreds of rubber ducks around the office for April Fools.

Sharon & Caileigh: A Legacy of Laughter and Leadership

Xplore staff members and mother daughter pair Sharon and Caleigh.

Sharon Cooper, Customer Care Technical Team Manager, has been with Xplore since 2018. She leads a team of 12–13 people and supports them with coaching, HR, and payroll. “I LOVE the atmosphere, culture, everyone is great, friendly, respectful,” she says. “This is the longest running job, and also because of all the opportunity for growth within the company.”

Her daughter, Caileigh Thompson, Technical Support Specialist, joined Xplore after seeing her mom’s positive experience. “It’s a welcoming environment,” she says.

Now, they cross paths daily, share snacks, and bring each other mail. “There will be times where I don’t even have to look at Teams to know she’s here because she will clear her throat and then I think ‘mom’s here,’” Caileigh laughs.

Caileigh and Sarah actually sit side-by-side in the call centre and have become best friends. “If we have a tough moment at work, or need a good laugh, it’s a fun environment,” says Sarah.

From After-School D&D to Office Pranks: A Small-Town Connection

Joseph, Sarah, Sharon, and Caileigh didn’t just meet at Xplore—they knew each other long before. Back in high school, their families were part of the same after-school Dungeons & Dragons club. It’s the kind of rural Ontario story that makes working together feel like coming full circle.

Now, they’re all part of the social committee, planning events and keeping the office lively. “They hid 850 little ducks around the office for April Fools,” Caileigh recalls. “They are still finding them.”

Debra & Jessie: Building Bridges and Bilingual Bonds

Xplore Staff Members and mother daughter pair, Deb and Jess.

Debra Beriault, Customer Care Loyalty Specialist, joined Xplore in August 2024 after years in retail and sales. “Best decision I ever made,” she says. “Best job I ever had so I wrangled my daughter and told her you have to get a job here.”

Her daughter, Jessie Beriault, Bilingual Customer Care Representative, joined three months ago and works on the front lines, helping guide customers through billing and support. “The company has really good values,” she says. “It’s a small little community so everyone helps everyone which is really nice.”

Debra works in the Loyalty Department, helping customers stay with Xplore by solving problems and showing them they’re valued. “It just gives people a good feeling about our company, and helps them feel happy,” she says. “What I’m doing is building a strong bridge, by showing customers that we’re loyal to them.”

They don’t work in the same department, but they share breaks, laughs, and lunches. “I don’t have to bring lunch, my mom brings lunch for me,” Jessie says. Debra adds, “I like to make sure she’s fed.”

Debra also reflected on her onboarding experience: “When I started, they shared a statement about how the company is centered around putting customers first. I had an internal smirk… but after working here for a time, I realized they really do live up to it—from how customers are treated to how we’re treated.”

Why Family Works at Xplore

Whether it’s the flexible schedules, the friendly culture, or the shared sense of purpose, working with family at Xplore isn’t just possible—it’s encouraged.

“It’s a great environment, welcoming with open arms… a friendly face there for support and to ask questions,” says Sarah. And as Caileigh puts it, “It’s a great start for someone who feels nervous. Xplore helps you get out of your shell.”

As Joseph mentioned, working for Xplore is rewarding because it means spending your days bridging the digital divide and connecting rural Canadians through dependable service and shared purpose. Our rural broadband network empowers families, small businesses, and rural households across the country.

Debra’s advice? “Apply! Do not delay—it’s a wonderful job.”

At Xplore, we’re proud to be part of rural Canada—and even prouder to support families like these.

Whether it’s through affordable rural Internet plans powered by fixed wireless technology, or fibre and satellite options, Xplore continues to expand coverage and improve Internet access in remote areas across the country.
