Our multicultural workforce reflects the cultural diversity of the multicultural communities we serve.
Canadian Multiculturalism Day is an opportunity to recognize those stories and the ways they strengthen our team and our communities.
It is also a time to celebrate inclusion and belonging across Xplore.
Sonia is Xplore’s Senior Manager, National Installation & Service. She supports our local technicians, who live and work in the communities we serve across Canada, to ensure customers are getting the highest level of professionalism and customer service when their internet connections are being installed.
Her work helps support reliable broadband access for rural and remote communities across Canada.
She continues her family’s Mexican tradition of Día de Muertos each year, creating altars, sharing meals, and gathering loved ones to honour those who came before her.
Since moving to Canada, she has brought that tradition with her, sharing it with family, friends, and her wider community.
For Sonia, the tradition is a meaningful expression of cultural heritage and cultural identity.
In 2025, she helped organize Fredericton’s first Day of the Dead procession, creating space for others to experience and celebrate the tradition.
As a CAD Designer at Xplore, Luciana’s work involves creating precise 2D and 3D technical drawings and models to translate concepts into manufacturable or constructible designs. Her journey spans Brazil, Japan, and Canada, and today, she’s part of the team helping build the internet infrastructure and systems that keep Xplore customers connected to fast, reliable internet.
Raised in Brazil until age 16 in a Japanese cultural household and now living in Canada for over 20 years, she brings a unique perspective shaped by multiple cultures. Using the engineering expertise that she gained studying for four years in Japan, and many years of professional experience, she established Xplore’s corporate drafting standards, bringing consistency across teams nationwide. Drafting standards are formal guidelines that dictate how engineering drawings should be prepared, structured, and presented. The standards Luciana established ensure precision, clarity, and consistency in the way Xplore’s internet network is built. Just one example of how our experts are creating a fast, reliable internet experience for customers across Canada.
Her experience reflects the diversity in Canada and the value of bringing different cultural perspectives to the workplace.
Outside of work, she celebrates cultural connection through soccer, a major part of her Brazilian roots. With Brazil, Japan, and Canada all close to her heart, especially during soccer season, she embraces the joy (and challenge!) of cheering for more than one team.
Xplore is a Canadian internet provider committed to reliable high-speed internet.
Xplore’s 100% Canadian-based team is proud to be building internet by Canadians for Canadians.
This work supports rural connectivity by expanding rural broadband and connecting rural communities, including underserved communities.
On Canadian Multiculturalism Day, having access to fast, reliable internet takes on new meaning.
Reliable digital access also supports digital inclusion, helping more Canadians participate in work, education, culture, and community life.
It means being able to connect with family across the world, celebrate cultural traditions from afar, or even run a business that shares our unique heritage with our communities.
Happy Canadian Multiculturalism Day!
