The rollout of Xplore’s fibre network started in our home province of New Brunswick in 2021 and has been expanding across the province over the past 6 months.

One of the first Xplore 5G subscribers, Nancy Dumont told us a little bit about her experience so far.

Nancy lives about a half-hour from the closest village.

“Where I live, we have farms and not a lot of houses close together so getting a good provider is very difficult,” she explained.

She hesitated before making the decision to move to a rural area because she had been working from home since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The company I work for wants the fastest option. At the beginning I didn’t think Xplore could give me the speed, but I took the chance,” she said.

The next workday after her installation, she put her Internet connection to the test.

“I started working and it really did me well! I’ve been with Xplore since October and I’m using it from 9:30 am until 6 pm and it never let me down once even though where we live, we have a lot of snow and high winds,” she said.

5G stands for the fifth generation of LTE technology. The main improvements from 4G are faster speeds and lower latency. Right now, the customers who are testing out the new Xplore 5G are getting speeds up to 100 Mbps, that’s double the speed of our fastest 4G package.

Other people in Nancy’s community are benefiting from 5G speeds too!

“My neighbour on the right-hand side works from home and has it too. They have children at home that are using the Internet constantly and never have any issues,” she said.

Nancy has been enjoying using the Internet for listening to YouTube music, browsing Kijiji and watching her favourite shows on Netflix.

She’s been telling friends and neighbours the good news.

“I’ve had no issues whatsoever. Another neighbour is using a different company and their speed is not like ours. They are having issues. I recommended Xplore,” she said.

Nancy says that her favourite part of living rural is the scenery.

“It’s nice when you’re walking down the street. There are cows, farms, water. It’s peaceful,” she said.

Xplore’s mission is to connect Canadians to the reliable high-speed Internet they need, regardless of where they choose to live.

Over the course of this year, we will continue to expand 5G to over 250 additional rural communities across Canada.

Read on for a list of new and upgraded towers now offering speeds up to 50 Mbps and truly unlimited data.
