Xplore recently doubled Internet speeds for over 21,000 homes and businesses across 124 rural communities in New Brunswick. Here’s what a happy customer had to say about their new and improved Internet connection!

3 Brooks Villa, a retirement and assisted living facility in Three Brooks, New Brunswick, is using their 100 Mbps connection to provide free Wi-Fi for all their residents to enjoy.
Owner and operator Kelly Briggs told us that staying connected improves the quality of life for their residents.
“A lot of the residents FaceTime their families. One resident’s family lives in Ontario and he gets to see all his grandchildren right from his bedroom. Some of the residents also have tablets, so it’s great entertainment for them,” she said.
At 3 Brooks Villa, residents receive 24-hour care including fresh meals made on site. Residents range from ages 30 to 90 years old.
The facility is a family-owned business that Kelly says was inspired by her mother’s empathy.
“She always wanted to help people,” Kelly said.
After her mother retired, Kelly took over.
“It’s a busy, rewarding job. Some people are just nervous to stay home alone; others need company. Some people just can’t do it on their own. For families that still work, it eases their mind that their loved one isn’t home alone all the time and that they are getting homemade meals,” she said.
Resources like 3 Brooks Villa are very important in rural areas where care can at times be more difficult to come by.
Three Brooks is a small town on the outskirts of Plaster Rock. Kelly loves Three Brooks because everybody knows everybody.
"We’re all a big family,” she said.
Before Xplore, there was no Internet service in Three Brooks, and now, the little community can get speeds all the way up to 100 Mbps with unlimited usage.
“It's been really good,” said Kelly, “It’s a great big two-story building and with that one connection the service goes right through. I can even get it in the office in the basement so that makes 3 stories,” she said.
Kelly uses the Internet for all her operational tasks.
“I have a lot of Zoom meetings with the Special Care Home Association and if I didn’t have Internet, I couldn’t do that. There were a whole lot of instructions during COVID that they gave through those meetings so it was quite important that we had it,” she said.
If you’re in New Brunswick, you’ll be happy to hear that an additional 28,000 premises will benefit from this service by the end of 2022. This is in addition to the 11,000 premises across 48 rural communities that gained access to 100 Mbps speeds last year. As Xplore’s home province, New Brunswick is often the launching ground for network innovations. Customers in New Brunswick were the first to experience the full potential of 5G Home Internet on Canada’s first rural 5G standalone network. Xplore is also working with the Government of Canada to finalize an agreement to bring a next-generation fibre network offering gigabit speeds to rural communities across the province.
