Celebrate the Holidays

There are already a few new and classic movies on Netflix that can help you get into the holiday season. Here are a few new ones coming in December:

  • 5 Star Christmas (2018) : When the Italian prime minister meets his lover and political rival while on an official trip to Budapest during Christmas week, things go topsy-turvy.
  • Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale (2018): A Netflix Original Special that features the recently rebooted Sabrina franchise in a holiday special movie

Blockbuster & Academy Award Winning Movies

Netflix is always working to get better movies, especially shortly after they are released on DVD. This month they don’t disappoint with these big screen movies:

  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018) : Marvel’s epic showdown. The Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe. Watch trailer here.
  • The Theory of Everything (2014): This touching biographical film details the life of the theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking including his relationships, his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and his success in physics. Watch trailer here.

Great Family & Kids Options

Do you need a family friendly movie that everyone can watch? Netflix has some new and classic options that are available this month:

  • Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018) : This will be the second Jungle Book related film that has come out in recent years, although it is in no way connected to Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book, which Disney released in 2016. Instead, this film will be a darker take on the Jungle Book story. Watch trailer here
  • Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009) : A funny family favorite featuring a local scientist who is often regarded as a failure until he invents a machine that can make food fall from the sky. But little does he know, that things are about to take a turn for the worst. Watch trailer here.
  • Prince of Peoria: A Christmas Moose Miracle (2018) : Teddy’s never missed the Festival of Lights, but the bowling alley’s been snowed in! Not to worry — Emil insists the Christmas moose will save the day.

More Documentaries and Reality TV

Netflix continues to grow its collection of documentaries and reality TV series and this month doesn’t disappoint with some humorous and serious options:

  • Nailed It Holiday (2018) : This 7 episode holiday special is similar to the past two seasons of Nailed It! except for one key difference. This time around, all the challenges will be a holiday-themed. Watch teaser here.
  • Blue Planet – Season 1 (2001) : A cinematic series that took five years to make features big name narrators including David Attenborough, Pierce Brosnan, Jason Roberts. This series looks at the rich tapestry of life in the world’s oceans. Watch trailer here.
  • Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons – Season 3 (2018): Imagine being in jail. Now imagine living in a foreign country. Scary? Paul Connelly takes you inside these jails. He shows what living conditions are for the inmates, as well as the guards.
