Why is Xplore retiring my Domain and Hosting services?

Xplore is retiring services such as domain and email hosting services to focus on what we do best - providing fast, reliable Internet to rural Canadians.

When is Xplore retiring my hosting services?

Xplore will be retiring all hosting services on April 30, 2022.

When is the deadline for me to complete actions required?

We strongly recommend that you complete all actions well ahead of the deadline but no later than April 30, 2022.

Will I receive reminders of the shutdown?

These FAQs were part of your official 90-day notification of the retirement. We will send reminder communications at 60 days and 30 days. There will be a final 10-day communication as well, in case you need the additional reminder.

If I only paid quarterly, annually, will I be credited for the time not used?

Yes, if you have remaining time left on your subscription, it will be credited back to you when the services are retired April 30, 2022.

If I have Xplore Internet service, will this be impacted?

No. Your existing Xplore Internet service will not change.

Do I have to cancel my Hosting or Domain service, or will they be cancelled automatically?

We will take care of all the billing changes on our end, and there is no need to tell us you want to cancel.

What services will be available until the retirement?

Your services as you use them today will be available up until the retirement of all Hosting services.

What changes can I make with my Hosting and Domain services with Xplore?

Unfortunately, to prepare for the retirement of Hosting and Domain services, you won’t be able to make any changes (including package changes) to your services.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There are no commitment terms associated with your hosting services. If you wish to cancel your services, please reach out to us at 1-866-841-6001.

Domain Registration Questions

What is a registrar?

To use a specific domain name (e.g., for a website, email, etc., you need to own it first. You do this by registering the domain name with a registrar, typically for a year or longer. The primary registrar that Xplore uses is

What do I need to do to ensure my Domain Registration continues?

Create your own free account for your domain registration. To do that, go to, click “Sign In” at the top right, and then click “Get Started”. Once you have your account created, just fill out your account contact information (required to be able to transfer your domain), and email us at so we can move your registration over to your new account free of charge!

Please note: Please complete this by March 31, 2022, to ensure there is adequate time to have the transfer completed before the retirement date of April 30, 2022.

What is a Rebel Account? is the registrar of your account and where we have your domain registered.

Will I receive my domain registration (yearly fee of $19) back?

No, as it will be used to maintain the existing registration of your domain within your own registrar account until its expiry date.

What is required of me with this retirement?

You may either move your Domain Hosting from our current service provider or you may opt to continue services. If you would like to continue using our current provider, please let us know by emailing so we can keep our provider updated, as they will be reaching out to you to discuss service options.

Does this mean I will lose all my web space files (under your URL starting with
