What to have ready:

Before you begin, ensure that you have the following items ready:

  • Email username (your full email address) and password

Adding a new email account

Add a new email account

  1. Open the Mail app by clicking the Windows Start menu and choosing Mail.
    1. If you've used the Mail app before, at the bottom of the left navigation pane, select Settings (gear icon)
    2. Choose Manage Accounts.
    3. Select + Add account.
  2. Choose Advanced setup
  3. Select Internet email
  4. Enter the following:
    1. Email address: your full Email address
    2. User name: your full Email address
    3. Password: your email Password
    4. Account name: give it a name
    5. Send your messages using this name: your name
    6. Incoming email server: imap.xplore.net
    7. Account type: IMAP4
    8. Outgoing (SMTP) email server: smtp.xplore.net
    9. Leave the four boxes checked
    10. Click Sign in
  5. Click Done

Changing your Email Password

If you changed your email password in webmail or MyXplore, you will need to change it in the Mail app to match the new password.

You might see a Sync Error (a triangle with an exclamation mark within a circle of arrows) and a message that says “We couldn’t access this account. You might need to update your password…”.

  1. Click on the Sync Error icon (a triangle with an exclamation mark within a circle of arrows)
  2. Enter your new Password
  3. Click Save

If you don’t see the Sync Error, follow these steps instead:

  1. Open the Mail app by clicking the Windows Start menu and choosing Mail.
  2. At the bottom of the left navigation pane, select Settings (gear icon)
  3. Choose Manage Accounts
  4. Select your email address
  5. Enter your new email Password and click Save

You might see a Sync Error (a triangle with an exclamation mark within a circle of arrows) and a message that says “We couldn’t access this account. You might need to update your password…”. If so, click Dismiss

  1. Open the Mail app by clicking the Windows Start menu and choosing Mail.
  2. At the bottom of the left navigation pane, select Settings (gear icon)
  3. Choose Manage Accounts
  4. Select your email address
  5. Verify that your User name is your full email address, including the portion after the @ symbol
    1. If not, you will need to remove this account from your computer by clicking “Delete account” and add it again as a new account (see “Add a new email account” on our website)
    2. Password: enter your email password
  6. Click Change mailbox sync settings
  7. Click the dropdown under Download new email
    1. If the top option is as items arrive, then it is using IMAP
    2. If the top option is based on my usage, then it is using POP
  8. Select Advanced mailbox settings
  9. Scroll down to the Sync options section. Verify the following settings, and change them if necessary:
    1. Incoming email Server
      1. If it is using IMAP: imap.xplore.net:993:1
      2. If is using POP: pop.xplore.net:995:1
    2. Outgoing (SMTP) email Server: smtp.xplore.net:465:1
    3. Verify that the following four boxes are checked:
      1. Outgoing server requires authentication
      2. Use the same user name and password for sending email
      3. Requires SSL for incoming email
      4. Requires SSL for outgoing email
    4. Click Done when finished
  10. Click Save
