What to have ready:

Before you begin, ensure that you have the following items ready:

  • Email username (your full email address) and password

Add a new email account

  1. Open the Outlook Mail app on the Start screen, or from the All apps list.
  2. If this is the first time that you have opened the Outlook Mail app, you will see a Welcome screen. Tap + Add account to get started.
    1. If you have used the Outlook Mail app before, at the bottom right of the screen, tap the ellipsis (), and then choose Manage Accounts.
    2. Tap + Add account.
  3. Tap Other account (POP, IMAP)
  4. Enter your full Email address, your name and your email Password, then tap Sign in
  5. Tap Done
  6. Verify Settings by tapping the ellipsis () at the bottom right of the screen, and then tap Manage Accounts (if not already there).
  7. Select your email address.
  8. Tap Change mailbox sync settings
  9. Scroll down and tap Advanced mailbox settings
  10. Scroll down to the bottom.
    1. Verify that the Incoming email Server is imap.xplore.net:993:1
    2. Verify that the Outgoing (SMTP) email Server is smtp.xplore.net:465:1
    3. Verify that the following four boxes are checked:
      1. Outgoing server requires authentication
      2. Use the same user name and password for sending email
      3. Requires SSL for incoming email
      4. Requires SSL for outgoing email
  11. Tap Done when finished and then Save

Changing your Email Password

If you changed your email password in webmail or MyXplore, you will need to change it in the Outlook Mail app to match the new password. You might even see a message like “Your account settings are out of date” or “We couldn’t access this account”.

  1. Open the Outlook Mail app on the Start screen, or from the All apps list
  2. At the bottom right of the screen, tap the ellipsis (), and then tap Manage Accounts
  3. Select your email address.
    1. If it shows Attention required, then tap Fix account after selecting you email address
  4. Enter your new email Password and tap Save

You might see a message like “Your account settings are out of date” or “We couldn’t access this account”. If so, tap Dismiss

  1. Open the Outlook Mail app on the Start screen, or from the All apps list.
  2. At the bottom right of the screen, tap the ellipsis (), and then tap Manage Accounts.
  3. Select your email address.
    1. If it shows Attention required, then tap Change Settings after selecting you email address
    2. Verify that your User name is your full email address, including the portion after the @ symbol
      1. If not, you will need to remove this account from your device by tapping “Delete account” and add it again as a new account (see “Add a new email account” on our website)
    3. Password: enter your email password
    4. Click Change mailbox sync settings
  4. Scroll down (if necessary) and select Advanced mailbox settings
  5. Scroll down to the Sync options section. Verify the following settings, and change them if necessary:
    1. Incoming email Server
      1. If it currently contains 143 or 993 (it is using IMAP): imap.xplore.net:993:1
      2. If it currently contains 110 or 995 (it is using POP): pop.xplore.net:995:1
      3. If it currently contains different numbers than above or no numbers: incoming.xplore.net
    2. Outgoing (SMTP) email Server: smtp.xplore.net:465:1
    3. Verify that the following four boxes are checked:
      1. Outgoing server requires authentication
      2. Use the same user name and password for sending email
      3. Requires SSL for incoming email
      4. Requires SSL for outgoing email
    4. Click Done when finished
  6. Click Save
